In mid-1995 I became an Independent ACN Rep hoping to turn an expense (our monthly telephone bill, into a recurring income. ACN offered a wide range of services including ACN Local Calling, Long Distance and some nifty technologically advanced products as well. Had I been back East, where I could get ACN’s services at the time, I might have switched and even tried an advnaced function.

But around the same time I found Cognigen, which offered the basic telephone service that I needed for less cost per minute, with no monthly fees at all, a free website, free online training, and no cost at all to become a Rep. I was already in profit with Cognigen on the very first sale, which was to myself. To be fair though Cognigen has recently been merged with another company and the Comp Plan, in my view, no longer as attractive.

With ACN people would have to make a certain number of sales just to recover their initial signup fee and their ongoing recurring monthly and annual costs. Therefore, being a business-minded person I cancelled my ACN Rep status within a few months because I could not in good conscience recruit others into ACN knowing they could become a Rep in Cognigen, save money, and be in profit on their very first sale.

This type of lead selling behavior should serve as a warning sign. If the upline truly wanted to help the downline they would offer leads free or at cost perhaps to anyone willing to work them.

Success as an ACN Representative is not guaranteed, but rather influenced by an individual’s specific efforts. Not all ACN Independent Representatives make a profit. No one can be guaranteed success as an ACN Independent Representative. Controlling costs, including advertising, is one of the key elements of measuring potential of a business to reach profit.

ACN was the featured company in Success from Home magazine’s April 2007 issue. The magazine contained detailed information on the company’s history including Co-Founders Greg Provenzano, Robert Stevanovski, Mike Cupisz and Tony Cupisz.
