SALT LAKE CITY—(BUSINESS WIRE)—June 10, 2008—Dave Wentz, president of USANA Health Sciences, Inc. (NASDAQ: USNA), was elected chairman of the Direct Selling Association (DSA) Board of Directors on Monday during the organization’s 2008 Annual Meeting in Phoenix.

The DSA is a national trade association of more than 200 leading companies that manufacture and distribute goods and services sold directly to consumers. Wentz will serve a one-year term as chairman, helping the organization achieve its goals of promoting the direct selling industry as well as ensuring that member companies maintain the highest level of business ethics.

“I am excited to serve an organization that plays such an important role in maintaining the strength and principles of the direct selling industry,” Wentz said. “The DSA is made up of an incredible array of companies offering excellent products and services to millions of independent distributors and customers throughout the United States. Wentz has served a variety of roles with the DSA, including chairman of the Direct Selling Education Foundation, chairman of the 2008 Annual Meeting, and DSA vice chairman for 2006/2007 and 2007/2008.

What a great company to be associated with, that’s what I thought anyway when I joined a few years ago. I was very enthusiastic when I started and did everything according to what I was told but I soo found out that I needed some leads, I had exhausted my supply of people I knew, I guess I had 2 choices buy some leads or generate my own. In the short term I decided to buy some leads.

After a while, calling, chasing etc I became disillusioned and decided I was going to give it all away because any real business will try to get customers to buy their products, they do that by advertising their product, not a by recruiting a team of salespeople. Regular customers who purchase the products simply because they like them, and have no interest in selling the products or becoming a distributor - this is what builds a real and stable business.

Just as I was about to give MLM away for good I was introduced to a new way of building an MLM business by a company that understands how a real business is built. This made so much sense that I couldn’t believe it, I couldn’t join quick enough!

I do not buy leads. I do not cold call people who have no interest in starting a business.

I buy customers. Paying customers. Customers who like the products. Customers who buy the products on a regular basis. Customers that earn me commissions.

I do not have to market to these customers. I do not have to follow up with them. I do not have to encourage them to buy more products. Our MLM company does all that for us. This is called co-operative marketing.

I was using the word “I” in the previous couple of sentences but I am part of a team and we work together as a team to attract people who are interested in building a business. We show them a better way. And wow, are we building a big team!

It is so refreshing to talk to people who are interested and eager to start a business! The difference between how I was doing business before and how I operate now is like night and day.
